Rare Words Vol. 1 – The book!

kickstarter_blog_progress

With the aid of Kickstarter.com, I’m working towards the goal of having a high quality, full color book collection printed of my drawing blog, Rare Words. Jump on over to the project page on Kickstarter to get involved.

Those who pledge $5, $10, $20, $50, and so on not only receive my immense gratitude, but original artwork, sign books, and everything mailed to them postage paid. The goal is a big one, $6,000, but it can be done! I will post progress here and on my Twitter.

About the project:

Over a year ago I started Rare Words (http://rarewords.org) as a drawing blog to inspire collaboration with my readers. You are encouraged to submit words or a phrase that become the creative starting point for my drawings. I post the finished illustration with the name of the submitter. Response has been so great that I’ve amassed over 175 illustrations and counting.

Rare Words Vol. 1 will collect 100 of the first year drawings in a high-quality, full color collection to be printed in the US and limited to only 1,000 copies.

Rare Words is truly run by the readers and the printing of the book will be as well. In the spirit of collaboration I’m asking you to consider supporting what would hopefully be the first volume of many.

Please pass this along to friends. Thanks!

Black Spring

Here’s a sneak peak at my new Coda Skateboards graphic for this summer. Should be in stores soon. Hard at work on a ton of Rare Words, skate decks, a new comic, and art for a solo show this fall that I’ll preview more of as that gets closer.

Handle With Care

handlewithcare

I have work in the “Handle With Care” comic art show at the Antonin Perbosc Library in France. Laurent Parson is the curator and by the looks of the video, did a great job. Look closely and you’ll see The Lucky Ones, Show Off, a Noose page, and a bunch of Rare Words originals.

SPX 2009

As you can see from the dates above (drawn by Kate Beaton), SPX is almost upon us again. I wouldn’t miss my favorite show of the year. The table will be covered in books, shirts, original art, and skate decks. As I recall, there was only one superhero suit last year. Come on, folks. You can do better than that.
