Ushering Spring

I am ushering in spring with 2 new t-shirts (Birds Attacking for guys and Hot Air Balloon for girls) and 1 new silkscreen print!

New Silkscreen Print

2 colors, 9x12, start looking for a frame because this one came out gorgeous! I'll have it up for sale in the store in another week or so. (This is just a sneak preview.) Oh yeah, remember I mentioned new shirts? Well, they are in the good hands of UPS right now headed my way.

V-Day

It's freezing cold out with snow on the ground and freezing rain on the way. I'm ready for winter to be over. Aside from complaints about the seasons, I'm working on new projects. A new shirt or two is on the way if I can ever find a shirt fabric that has the combination of being higher quality and economically priced. I'm putting a book together of some gag strips that at least, make me laugh. Still searching for an appropriate title for that one. A proper comic is being written (I can see you rolling your eyes). It's true though. Don't forget Valentine's Day this week people. It's always important to tell those you love that you do, in fact, love them. I mean, how will they ever know?

Extras—I will miss you very much.

This post has nothing to do with work or news. I just watched the series finale of Extras with Ricky Gervais. Sadly, it is the final episode of one of my favorite shows (and I don't like many). If you have a chance to watch it, please do so! It wraps up so smartly and hits emotional pitches that are unheard of in a comedy. Think of other famous series enders: M.A.S.H., Seinfeld, Mary Tyler Moore Show, etc. They are mostly tearful goodbyes with almost transparent scripts (it's almost as if the actors are saying goodbye to the cameras). This show is more about a proper ending to a story rather than a fanciful send-off. It made me question my own work and motivations as to why I do what I do. All that from a comedy.

For those of you who are diehard Etsy fans, I now have a store up there. The same things are sold here, but there I'm next to sock monkeys, handmade jewelry, and pottery! It's me in a whole new context.

Say it in French

I finished the cover for the December issue of le Zata, a French comics webzine. I'll post the link when the issue goes live. The illustration is about music-related memories. I'll also post the cover in the gallery once it's been officially launched (so you can see it bigger).

More Ink Coverage

I started something. Back in August I posted some tattoo photos of my drawings. I got an email the other day from a girl who now has my "feathergirl" drawing on her arm. Looks good! If anyone else has any of my drawings of tats, send them my way.

Thank you to all who stopped by at SPX. Whether you bought stuff for the first time or were coming back to say hi, it was nice seeing all of you. Also, you can now get both sketchbooks (The Lucky Ones and Dead Letters and Rare Words) together and save some $$. Click either book title for more info.

2 Weeks?

I've been working on fall/winter decks for Coda Skateboards while listening to "Revolution Summer"-era DC bands all the while redistributing my clutter through eBay. That has been my last 2 weeks. I also did an interview, booked plane tickets (well, that was done for me), and ate my first plum.

Reviews

The Comics Reporter posted a review of Noose. Read it here.

MoCCA

I'm back from MoCCA and am in need of a good nap. Thanks to everyone who came by the table to say hello, Mr. Sally for the laughs, and Ginger for the story. Sorry for those looking for Noose only to find out that it had sold out. You can always purchase it in the store.

While I was in town I got to see Souther Salazar's solo show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery which was amazing. I didn't get to make it out, but pals Anders Nilsen and Jeffrey Brown had work in a show at Giant Robot NY that weekend as well. If you find yourself in the city soon, don't miss those shows.

Both books will be available in late June at MoCCA, but can be pre-ordered in the store now. Speaking of MoCCA, Zak Sally and I will be located at table B11. New t-shirts are on their way as well. See Birds on a Wire and Squished. You can pre-order those now.

New Book, What?!

I'm about 10 pages into a new comic called Noose. You can see some pages here. This comic will probably be available first at MoCCA in NYC this June and then in the site store shortly after that. I'm really liking how the book is coming together. This is a story I've had in my head for a few years in various forms. Thanks for your patience.
